High Maintance and an Anger Management Problem...

Haha title of the post- long story, however I doubt these words will ever be muttered again as JEM would probably get sent down for murder. So anyway, Saturday night- far too hot, hair went rank, I don't look too amused. However it was a fab night, sometimes you have the best nights out ever standing in the smoking area chatting on to randoms. However kids getting off with your male mates = trouble, don't do it. Also have you noticed that when you have nothing to wear for a night out, a last minute search paired with free next day delivery on Asos you actually find a perfect little number.

My face looks like a slapped backside on this photo, I blame one too many Midori Sours from my favourite new bar Whisky River.

Asos Sleeveless Shift Scalloped Hem Dress (link)
Topshop Cream sandles (last year)
Chanel XL Jumbo
Asos Watch

Roll on Holly's hen do!!

Ps- I don't have an anger management problem or is high maintance. Its a private joke

Its pay day its pay day

And its Friday...

Could today get any better!!

So I initally did this payday wishlist last Sunday and since then, the last week has been a bit of a shopping frenzy. I'm still on the hunt for something to wear tomorrow night- thinking an after work dash tonight to Topshop (even though the one in Durham is rubbish).

Considering last month I haven't been on the spending ban, I've actually saved way more money than I did when on the shopping ban. See I told you shopping bans were a waste of time. However as its Holly's wedding 4 weeks tomorrow, I am trying to curb the spending this month. So the things I want, I've had to really think about as to whether I need it. I'm still ebaying my life away trying to make some space in my wardrobes, sounds daft but some of my clothes have sentimental value and I don't want to sell them. But needs must.

So what have I got my eye on this month...

Aztec Skirt £165, All Saints BOUGHT
White Cashmire Vest £22, Topshop Boutique
Yellow Envelope Laptop Case £20, Asos RETURNED
Antelope Animal Print Wedges £80, Topshop.
17 Falsify Mascara £6.49, Boots. BOUGHT
Sully Fluropink Halterneck Dress £41, Reiss

If you follow me on Twitter (@raywhoisshe) you will have seen how narked off I am with trying to get one of these embellished All Saints skirts, I'm keep being outbid. However on my lunch on Monday I thought I would quickly check ebay and see if any skirts in my size had been listed. My size in the Aztec Skirt with a buy it now- seriously it was too good to be true. I've bought it and fingers crossed its in good nick. I ordered the Asos clutch for going out this weekend, however its not as nice as it looks on the website (gutted). I doubt the Reiss dress is going to be avaliable in my size as its in the Sale, however I'm off to Newcastle next Saturday with Holly so I'll be checking their store/John Lewis/Fenwicks to see if they have it in.

The animal wedges I think will have to wait until next payday.. you will see why later on. I need a new white vest for Holly's hen do in a smaller size as I'm sick of having to pull my current boutique vest up, as it has a habit of falling down all the blooming time. Managed to get my hands on the Falsify mascara last week- so far I'm quite happy with it- I'll be putting that to the test tomorrow night. I also want some hot rollers, I've got my eyes on the Babyliss 30 Ceramic Rollers, as thats what the hairdresser used on mine and Holly's hair for the trial, Sally's sell them for £55 however I've managed to see them somewhere for £29 with free p+p (I love a good bargain)

Anyway back onto why I won't be buying the Antelope wedges this month, Monday night I got a message on ebay saying that THE ALL SAINTS SHELL SKIRT IN MY SIZE WAS LISTED ON EBAY BRAND NEW WITH TAGS AS A BUY IT NOW (and breathe). I was in two minds as to buy it considering I just bought the Aztec skirt. However after a lot of thinking, I decided to buy it. It came yesterday in the post, and its in immaculate condition, and it fits perfect. Roll on Holly's hen do pt 2 and you'll see the pictures of it in action then. Debating whether to sell the Aztec skirt when it comes however I'm going to hold on to it for a bit while I make my mind up (yeah I'll end up keeping it).

So a massive thank you to Natalie for letting me know about the shell skirt!!!

Massive post for you there!! If you are interested in taking part in your face of the day on here, comment on the post below.

Have a fab weekend and don't do anything I wouldn't do!! xx

Bigger is most definately better...

....when it comes to Maxi Clutches.

I know what you were thinking, dirty mares..

Another one of my all time favourite obsessions is maxi clutches. Well before the Chanel babies came into my life any night out I was on, you would see me with a clutch bag of various sizes. To me an ideal clutch is one which you can fit just the right amount of products in it- no-one wants to see outlines of whats in your bag bulging through.

Also the use of a brightly coloured clutch can add a pop of colour to a plain outfit, or teamed with a brightly coloured dress your doing the colour blocking trend. For some reason I always want to use a brightly coloured maxi in the summer, however at this time of year you can hardly find any. I always find that its Christmas time when the stores decide to stock their nice clutches.

However there are some gems to be found on the highstreet..

Top- Sloan Leather, £215 Michael Kors @ Net-a-Porter.com, Black Envelope, £45 Warehouse, Woven Leather and Suede, £395 Miu Miu @ Net-a-Porter.com, Pink Patent Leather, £12.99 New Look.
Bottom- Blue Metal Tip, £18 Asos, Pink Twist Lock, £25 Topshop, Black Flat Zip Contrast Clutch, £20 Asos, Cream Weave Metal Tip, £30 Asos, Yellow Portfolio Envelope, £20 Asos.

As you can gather, Asos have come up trumps with having the best selection on maxi clutches. I am loving the bright primary colours- definately debating whether to buy either the blue or the yellow clutch or perhaps the cream woven one for Holly's hen do. Or I might just buy them anyway, any excuse to spend money.

Oh and on a parting note- I give to you my "bigger than a maxi" vintage maxi clutch

For me the maxi clutch trend will never go out of fashion- whats your thoughts on it??

Fancy a bargain?? Check out my ebay listings here

Peskyness

So blogger is refusing to upload my fabulous picture of my latest Topshop wants. You will have to make do with a picture of moi from Saturday night when I was out with Kayleigh. This photo was taken mid-beautiful man perving in Buddha, and I do not like how pale the flash has made my face. Obviously as Kayleigh doesn't know about the blog, I've cut her off. I don't even like this photo but I'm putting it up anyway- I feel like I look old.

Also- this photo gives a good representation of how red my hair goes when I use the Revlon Nutri Colour Creme. I'm going to do a proper red hair care maintenance post soon. Plus I hate lack of air con in bars, my curls always drop out half way through the night- grrrrr.

Floral Dress- Top de la shop

Watch- Asos
Bangles- Ebay/Primark.

Haiiiiiiiiiiiii Mortal

So Bank Holiday Sunday involved a rather large amount of pasoa and lemonade and plenty of fat buddha cocktails. Topped off with some posing in the world's biggest loos ever in the world's smallest bar- Fabios with Holly. All in the purpose of some outfit posts. I am not feeling my double chin on my picture (blame the easter eggs), and yes I like to pose in front of the loo, and also I have been knowing to stand and pose on the ledge on the back of the loo. Thats just how I roll cause I am cool haha. Also was fab to catch up with the lovely Adele too!!

Onto the outfits...

Holly.
Dress- TFNC at House of Fraser (you can also get it in a raspberry colour)
Shoes- New Look.
Holly also had a lush cream bag to go with this but she flung it across the floor.

Raquelle.

Dress/Belt- Zara
Bag- Chanel.
Watch- Asos
Shoes- Topshop
Trying not to laugh/look serious- priceless.

This is the colour my hair goes with the revlon nutri color creme (I got mine from here). Thats the last of my holiday tan- the fake tan will be out for this weekend!!

Magical Shrinking Feet...

I think the one good thing about getting older is the fact that my feet are shrinking- does that sound random? Yes it does. So anyone who knows me will tell you that shoes are not my thing. I hate shoe shopping, I'd rather spend my money on clothes/handbags, or actually waste it on rubbish than buy a pair of shoes.

I think many of you will probably be having some sort of fit for me saying that I hate shoes, but I do have good reason...

Being 5'10" and a size 9 feet, shoe shopping was pure torture- no shops used to have decent shoes in such a bigger size. Next used to be the place to go for heels. My going out wardrobe used to consist of one pair of black courts which would go with everything. Any shoes which I would buy would be black. However within the last 3-4 years my feet have been shrinking- look in my wardrobe, there is size 7, 8 and 9 shoes. I like to think that my feet are shrinking but to be honest I think its just the size of the shoes being made a bit bigger.

Oh how I wish my feet were a size 6 and dinky, but I suppose that would have caused far more damage to my bank balance. Thing is primark heels I can be a 7-8, New Look I'm an 8, Topshop size 8 for court shoes is too tight, a size 9 there is a good half an inch of space at the back- I don't think I'll ever win.

Anyway totally drifting off the point of the post... one dress.. what shoes do you prefer..as I can't find the coral Peacocks shoes anywhere (update on this later)
Topshop Cream Floral Dress £46

Loretta Bow Sandles £70 Topshop, Wooden T Bar Sabdles £29.99 New Look, Asos Pump It Up Suede Platform Courts £55, Brown Loafer Heels £24.99 New Look.

Or my tranny shoe boots, as I like to call them??

Muchos Love xxx

Update on the Peacock shoes for anyone who was wanting them- just had an email from customer services and there is a problem with the shoe, hence a delay in delivery. They are unable to advise a specific date for when the shoes will be in stock.

Club Tropicana drinks are freeeeeeeeeee

As you can tell, I'm starting to get into the full holiday spirit and it would be rude to mention Club Tropicana without the following imagine imbedding itself into your brain...

skimpy skimpy whities.

Anyway back to the point of the post...

To me, holidays remind me of bold, brash floral/tropical prints with plenty of denim and pretty bikinis thrown in for good measure. Even if I don't go away on holiday I try to encoporate this into my beginning of spring-summer wardrobe. As you are all aware I've set myself a mission with this holiday- not to buy any new clothes (bar a few bikinis) and make do with the clothes I've got, most of which are summery. While "researching" (ok maybe thats I lie- browsing as usual) for this post, I am really impressed with the selection which is avaliable on the high street.

Most of these items I think could easily take you from one season to another and dress up/down, and for the prices they are- its good value if you think of it in cost per wear.

So if money were no object, this would probably be my capsule wardrobe for a trip to Club Tropicana, with some gladiator sandles thrown in for good measure...

Rainbow Bubble Dress £45 Asos, Floral Jersery Print Dress £29 Topshop, One Shoulder Floral Dress £45 Asos, Apricot Belted Floral Dress £23 New Look.

Miso Tropical Print Maxi Dress, Floral Knot Back Vest £25 Topshop, Moto Denim Shorts £26 Topshop, Cream Floral Print Dress £48 Topshop.

Bikini £25 Miss Selfridge, Palzzo Pants £20 Primark (Limited Collection), Missioni Hairband £65 Net-a-Porter, Chelsea Rebellion Dress £45 Asos.

Plus the ultimate holiday essential...
Ray Ban Wayfarers (or Clubmasters).

Who loves a bit of Club Tropicana??

Chirstmas Party Week- Day 6- Finishing Touches

Morning,

Quite an early post from me today- never knew Sundays actually had a morning. Decided that today is going to be the last day of Christmas Party Week, I don't have the time at the moment to find party make up and hair looks- sorry.

Right so last up is the finishing touches for your outfit- accessories.

I very rarely wear tights for a night out, actually I'm not going to lie to you- I never wear them. However a pair of tights can jazz up any outfit and the high street has loads of amazing tights in. I've just bought the House of Holland Suspender tights after wanting them for over a year. Remember the coloured tights the saturdays wore in their "Up" video- what a birlliant way to jazz up a dull outfit. Also for plain black tights you can never ever go wrong with Primark 80 and 100 denier tights.

Jewellry wise I very rarely wear necklaces, until I found the aqua topshop necklace (below)- can't wait to wear that with my mad friday outfit. Bangles and rings- the more the better, you can never go wrong with Primark Gold bangles (£1 for 10) and their cocktail rings, however since Forever 21 has come to the UK I find myself perving over the bangles on their website.

Clutch bags again are one of those things which will never go out of fashion- I've included more christmassy ones for you to have a look at. Tbh I take that much crap out with me on a night out (and panic if I don't take them out) I always just use one of my Chanel bags (might as well get my money's worth).

As always if you have any questions, or want any advice on what to wear for you Christmas nights out, drop me a comment below or an email.

So for the final time, these are my picks from the High Street.

Short Pearl Necklace £10 Dorothy Perkins, Multi Riw Necklace £40 French Connection, Pearl-Lace Multi Row £18 Miss Selfridge, Aqua Twisted Rope Beaded Necklace £16.50 Topshop.

Hammered Bars Cuff £10 Miss Selfridge, Selection of Forever 21 Bangles (I want all three).

Embossed Cutout Hoops £6.50 Topshop, Peacock Earrings £12.99 River Island (these are very long), Bombay Hoops £15 Accessorize.

Deep Deco Statement Ring £12 Accessorize, Vintage Ring £4.80 Forever 21, Green Stone Ring £9.99 River Island.

Asos Leather Waterfall Clutch £40 Asos, Embellished Box Clutch Bag £65 Topshop, Red Animal Print Box Bag £24.99 River Island, Silver Sparkle Clucth £30 Accessorize.

Animal Print £10 Asos, Teal Tights (also in different colours) £6 Topshop, Swallow Ankle Detail Tights £8.50 Topshop, Bondage Tights (a la Cheryl Cole) £32 Wolford.

Buisness as usual from tomorrow xx

Christmas Party Week- Day 5- Keeping Warm

Now when it comes to this time of year, I normally end up wearing somesort of jacket when I go out. You can never go wrong with a leather biker jacket- I got mine in Feb from New Look for a bargain £25 and I always wear it out.

Blazers are another staple in my wardrobe, I love oversized boyfriend blazers over dresses and skirts/tops, fashionable and keeps you warm- two thumbs up in my book.

Remember when you try biker jackets and blazers on, make sure you are able to roll the sleeves up- makes the outfit look fab while looking like you've just thrown it together- when really its been planned in military precision.

I've posted a picture of my favourite trophy jacket too- I got mine in the Boxing Day sales last year for £25 down from £85. These jackets never go out of fashion, and most can be found on ebay for a fraction of the price.

Remember if there is a few jackets which you want- why not wait until the sales and get twice the amount. I've got my eye on a couple of these below.

Black Blazer £34.99 H+M, Oversized Blazer £65 Topshop (I want this in the sales), Stripe Trim Blazer £28.80 Forever21 (this is a dupe for the original black Topshop Boyfriend blazer), Cream Slouch Blazer £49.99 River Island (my newest blazer addition- wearing this out for Mad Friday with work).

Silk Blazer £125 Kate Moss for Topshop, Minkpink Sequined Blazer £120 Asos (I got my black sequinned blazer from Republic for £30), Oyster Shawl Collar Blazer £65 Topshop, Frazer Blazer £115 French Connection.

Lace Jacket £75 Oasis, Floral Batwing Kimono £50 Topshop (I need this in my life so badly, this is quite long on the body), My bargain Topshop Trophy Jacket (avaliable on ebay), Beaded Stud Cardigan £70 Topshop (this is very heavy on- tried it on in the shop).

Asos Leather Biker Jacket £95 Asos (New Look/Primark have copies of this in for less), Cropped Biker Jacket £120 River Island, Larna Faux Fur Jacket £60 Boohoo (Primark have similiar jackets in for £20ish), Grey Rouched Sleeve Blazer £55 Topshop (I have this and it goes with everything).

So those are my top picks of jackets, and I think in this weather you definately need something to keep you warm while your waiting in the taxi queue. Also the thing about these jackets (bar the trophy ones as personally I think they're more Christmas/New Year) is you can wear them all year around- you will get your moneys worth from it.

If you have any questions, or outfit advice, leave a comment or drop me an email.

Right I'm off to grab some food before X-Factor starts. Fingers crossed Shaun wins I'm a Celeb and I win the office sweepstake :) xxxx

Christmas Party Week- Day 2- Skirts/Shorts/Trousers

Arrgggghhhhhh so the snow is now becoming one heck of a pain in the old arse now. Haven't been able to see the bestie to give her her birthday presents today, and it looks like York on Thursday is going to be cancelled due to the lovely weather. If anyone wants 2ft of snow, leave me a comment and I'll bag it up and send it to you.

So its day 2 of the Christmas Party Outfit week (apologies for the snow rant above) and its everything else which covers your bottom half.

Its only recently that I've discovered that I can wear other things for a night out apart from dresses and still look half decent. Some of the items below I'll definately be wearing out over Christmas. Personally I think the key to a perfect outfit is to buy pieces of clothing which will work with existing items in your wardrobe, or items of clothing which you would be able to wear in the summer or even next Christmas.

These are my favourites (along with some items I already have).

1. Skirts
Gold Jacquard Skirt £32 Miss Selfridge, Glittered Tulle Skirt £17.80 Forever21, Feather Mini Skirt £75 Topshop, Green Tulip Skirt £24.99 H+M.

Striped Skirt £7.50 Forever21 (I have a very similiar skirt to this from Asos), Sage Chiffon Stripe Mini £55 Topshop (I am in love with this dress), Zig Zag Skirt £6.99 H+M (I have this skirt, love it), Pink Pearl Sequin Embellished Skirt £44.99 River Island.

Asos Tailored Pleat Side Pencil Skirt £28 Asos, Devo Skirt £123 All Saints, Asos High Waisted Pleat Skirt £30 Asos, Asos Exaggerated Bow Mini £28 Asos (reminds me of the Lanvin for H+M skirts).

2. Shorts.
Waterfall Drape Shorts £34 Topshop, Leather Shorts £70 Warehouse, Gunmetal Sequin Shorts £45 Topshop (wish I had the confidence to wear these), Brown Leather Shorts £68 Topshop.

3. Trousers/Leggings.
Asos Front Pleat Chino £28 Asos, Grisgrain Hareem Pants £40 Topshop, Asos Slim Leg Trouser £36 Asos, Crepe Fold Over Hareems £38 Topshop (I have these and love them, but they're actually tapered leg trousers not hareems).

Khaki Paper Bag Waisted Taper Leg Trousers £42 Topshop, Faux Leather Stretch Trousers £38 Topshop, ignore those i've included them twice, Wet Look Leggings £20 Topshop (I swear by these in the Winter).

These are my picks- apologies about the amount of Topshop I have mentioned in the trouser post, but along with Asos I think they do the best trousers. With the items I've picked I believe you can wear 95% of these throughout the year- so you will get your moneys worth.

Now the other question is- What to wear with these?? You'll find that out tomorrow xx

Perfect Christmas Party Outfit- Day 1. Dresses

So to me for some reason Christmas parties or going out over Christmas wearing a dress is a must- it is the law. It is a law which I do my hardest not to break.

Due to the masses and masses of snow the North East has had last night, I think more likely staying in until the snow melts would be the best option for me at the moment :(

However for all of you lucky snow-free people and those who will dare to brave the snow here are my favourite party dresses (including a few of my own) on the high street now.

Devo Mini Dress £221 All Saints, Cream Pleated Swing Dress £39.99 River Island, One Shoulder Drape Dress £55 Topshop, Ceri Dress £100 All Saints (I want this in the Boxing Day Sales).

Asos Embellished Collar Shift Dress £46 Asos, Karen Millen Snow Lepoard Print Dress £250 Asos, Jone and Jones Bodycon Dress £55 Pretaportabello, Black Embellished Vest Dress £70 Miss Selfridge.

TFNC One Shoulder Sequinned Dress £40 Asos, Miso Embroidered Dress £39.99 Republic, TFNC Embellished Dress £55 Topshop (I have this and love it), Wisteria Lane Dress £195 French Connection.

Trollied Dolly Print Prom Dress £48 Pretaportbello, Kate Moss Dobby Dress £60 Topshop (my party dress), Rise Embellished Shift Dress £65 Asos, Whistles Zebra Scribble Dress £150 Asos.

Aqua One Shoulder Padded Dress £70 Asos, Silk Zip Back Tunic £50 Topshop (I have this and love it), Asos Drummer Girl Tulip Dress £46 (really want this), Oyster Sequin Dress £130 French Connection.

So what happens if you don't like wearing Dresses?? I'll show you my pick of Trousers/Shorts/Skirts tomorrow.

Do you always buy an Christmas Party dress?? What are you thinking of wearing?? If you have any questions or thoughts- leave them below xxx

To Dress or not to Dress

I have to admit I HATE this time of year- trying to find dresses which aren't too formal, aren't too casual, aren't too ridiculous ready for Christmas. For me this kinda is the worse time of the year, as from the end of Novemeber its really party party party for me, until I have my birthday night out in January. In this period of time... I have my best mates birthday, JEMs birthday, works xmas night out, normal saturday nights out, mad friday, christmas eve, boxing day, normally the day after that, new years eve, and then my birthday.

Plus as the 6 week rule nearly always applies (is that just a NE thing?), I like to be stocked up on cute dresses (and an extra special one for my birthday)- however this makes it even more difficult trying to pick outfits out for nights outs.

I like dresses which you can wear with blazers or bomber jackets- after an incident on last NYE which involved me waiting for a taxi for over an hour in the snow in minus whatever. NEVER AGAIN.

So here are my current favourites (these took ages to find)...

Tavi Dress £295, Gabriel Mini Dress £195- both All Saints, Jewel Digital Print Dress £324- Emma Cook at ASOS, Metal Mindy Dress £140- French Connection.

Tribal Ladder Neck Dress £38- ASOS, Green One Shoulder Dress £29.99- H+M, Josephine Acid Print Tee Dress £149- Reiss, Jersey Cape Detail Dress £36- ASOS.

One Shoulder Animal Print Dress £36- TFNC at ASOS, Pink Pintuck Dress £32- Miss Selfridge, One Shoulder Dress £29.99- Miso at Republic, Animal Wrap Dress £24.99- H+M.

So out of these I definately want the Green H+M dress, possibley the tribal ladder dress (although it is strapless), and all of the embellished dresses. What are your favourites? Which dresses should I buy?

Decisions, decisions!!

When September Ends

Hi y'all I'm Lea or better known as EdinburghStylistGirl. I'm delighted to help out Ray with this guest post, hope everyone likes it!

Wow hasn't summer gone so quickly? Can't hardly believe that I am now thinking about a winter coat, here's my pick of the best from the high street.

Both of these are from ASOS.

The black jacket is faux fur and costs £110. I love a nice faux fur jacket in the winter and this looks much more expensive than it actually is. The cream cape is froom Karen Millen and costs £250 which seems expensive but this is clearly beautifully made and will last for years. I'd feel super sophisticated wearing this!

This gorgeous purple funnel neck is J by Jasper Conran courtsey of Debenhams and costs £120. The colour is such a change from the usual black, grey or brown but would still go with the majority of a working wardrobe. It'd look great with a bright pink scarf to lift a dull winter's day.

The brown faux leather aviator jacket is probably the best high street copy of the much loved Burberry number and comes in at £59.99. I have just checked the River Island website and it's sold out online! I absolutely adore this tan jacket with its shearling collar which is priced at £160. This this could be my ultimate winter jacket!

The super cute duffel coat and flared tan mac both come from Topshop and cost £80 each. I'd quite happily buy the two of these and would wear them again next year.

What does everyone think? Have I missed out on any stunning coats from the high street?

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Well I never.....

... Its like wearing your Uggs on your head.

Sheepskin Hat £50 at ASOS.

I'm getting this bad boy ordered- stat!!!

The cold weather is en route...

... well to be honest I think its already Winter here in the North East. Freezing, wet and windy.

I have noticed in my wardrobe there is small space... a small space which needs filling. Now before any sarcastic comments (my finger is pointing at you JEM) that I can't get any more clothes into my 2 wardrobes and 2 sets of drawers.. this small space has a purpose.

Its the sign I need to purchase a FUR COAT (faux of course)- its the perfect Autumn/Winter staple. I will be wearing it on nights out, shopping trips, walks, the list goes on and on. I think I'm just making up reasons why I should buy one.

Here are my favourites from the High Street.

Top- Topshop Patchy Box Coat £80, French Connection Laura Fur Coat £120 (my fav).
Bottom- French Connection Leopard Love Jacket £120, Warehouse (at ASOS) Featherey Coat £65.

What's your favourite?? xxx
