Lara's CHALO DILLI inspired by Hollywood 'road romcoms'?

Lara Dutta is ready with her first home production CHALO DILLI. And by the look of the things, it seems like the film is inspired by many a Hollywood romcoms that are set in a road movie genre. The promo so far reveals that the film is a comedy where Lara finds an unlikely company in Vinay Pathak, a stranger, who drives her down to Delhi. However it turns out to be an eventful ride with surprises at every juncture. 'There are so many references that one can think of when one watches the promos of CHALO DILLI which are currently on air,' says a film enthusiast, 'The film that I was reminded of was a lesser known affair called LEAP YEAR (2010) which was about a woman (Amy Adams) who took help of a stranger (Matthew Goode) to drive her down to Dublin so that she could propose to her boyfriend on the Leap Day.'Well, in that case LEAP YEAR by itself was not the most original story ever as it too found references in 1934 released Hollywood classic IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT which was about a spoiled heiress (Claudette Colbert) who, while running away from her family, was helped by a man (Clark Gable) who was actually a reporter looking for a story. 'And to think of it, later Mahesh Bhatt made an official remake of the same film with Aamir Khan and Pooja Bhatt in DIL HAI KI MAANTA NAHIN (1991). There too Pooja had run away from home to meet her boyfriend Deepak Tijori,' says an industry insider, 'Now looks like two decades later, it is all being revisited with Lara Dutta and Vinay Pathak turning out to taking a similar road trip together.' Well, we would wait to know more about that as well when we join the duo in this road trip to Delhi starting 29th April.Lara's CHALO DILLI
