Audi India has launched the Audi A6 for the Indian market and given the pricing and how well-rounded the new A6 is, it seems the competition is going to have a tough time keeping up with the new A6. Audi India has launched the A6 in New Delhi today at a price that is set to stir up a hornet's nest. The new A6 now starts at Rs 37.7 lakh for the 2.0 TDI and goes up to Rs 47 lakh for the 3.0 TFSI quattro variant for base trim levels.
The prices for the new A6 as as follows -
Audi A6 2.0 TDI diesel - Rs. 37.7 lakhs
Audi A6 2.8 FSI petrol - Rs. 39.9 lakhs
Audi A6 3.0 TDI diesel - Rs. 46.95 lakhs
Audi A6 3.0 TFSI petrol - Rs. 47 lakhs

The new A6 comes with four powertrain options - 2 petrol and 2 diesel. The petrol powertrains are represented by the 2.8 FSI displaces 2773cc and produces 204 bhp while the 3.0 TFSI comes with a 2995cc, supercharged petrol with 300 bhp. Both these 6-cylinder engines are mated to seven-speed transmissions. The 2.8 FSI is front-wheel driven while the 3.0 TFSI comes with quattro all-wheel drive as standard.
The diesel powertrains include the four-cylinder 2.0 TDi and six-cylinder 3.0 TDI. The 2.0 TDI is new to the A6 platform in India and is priced to be a value warrior, to take on the likes of the BMW 520d and the Mercedes-Benz E250 CDI. The 3.0 TDi from its 2967cc has been uprated to produce 245 bhp while the 2.0 TDI produces 177 bhp from its 1968cc motor. These too are mated to seven-speed transmissions.
The A6 has been designed to be athletic, yet practical and spacious. It comes with the usual raft of features like ESP, traction control, airbags and ABS along with Multimedia Interface (MMI) Touch among others. LED headlights are optional on the new A6 with xenon as standard.
Adaptive air suspension with lift facility is standard on the new A6. Start-Stop is standard on the 3.0 TFSI quattro while a new Efficiency mode is also available that's selectable on the MMI.
Audi India currently has 13 dealerships with plans to expand to 18 dealerships by the end-of-2011. Coimbatore, Lucknow and Indore are among the new cities to receive dealerships as the company plans to expand to Tier-II and Tier-III cities. Delhi West, Mumbai South and Surat are also on the cards. More variants of the A6 can be expected in the future, including the S6 Executive Sports Saloon.
