Police say Amy Winehouse, the troubled diva who had struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, has been found dead at her home in London.
Police confirmed that a 27-year-old female was pronounced dead at the home in Camden Square northern London.
Police said the cause of death was not immediately clear.
Winehouse had struggled with substance abuse throughout much of her career. Those problems derailed efforts for a follow-up to "Back to Black" and many of her attempts at live performances over the past couple of years. Last month she pulled out of a planned comeback tour after a disastrous performance in Serbia that found her forgetting lyrics and mumbling through songs and abandoning the stage several times.
Amy Winehouse, whose 2006 album "Back to Black" lofted her to sudden stardom, checked into rehab at the end of May due to her ongoing problems with alcohol addiction. According to People, a source close to Winehouse say the call was initiated by Winehouse' father, Mitch Winehouse. Her dad sat her down and said 'I think you're drinking too much again.' So she agreed to go an assessment to stop it becoming a bigger problem," source says.
