Bucks Fizz

So today's post is a review of Superdrug's Nail Whitening Tablets which I mentioned in my beauty haul post on Monday. I've seen quite a lot of reviews of these on the net, and I thought I would give it a try. Now since my false nails have been off, my nails have actually been in quite good condition, however due to the dreaded fake tan (even though I only put it on when I'm wearing nail polish) and on occasions "forgetting" aka couldn't be bothered to put a base coat on my nails before going out on a Saturday night. The other week while in Superdrug I thought I would pick a packet up to try.
So for £2.99 you get a pack of 6 tablets which I don't think is bad value. The packet states that you should use one-two tablets per hand, however I used two tablets and just dunked my hands in the bowl for 15 minutes. The package warns that your nails and skin may be dry afterwards and to use handcream. Mine weren't however I used handcream to be on the safe side.

So this is what my nails looked like before- with no traces of nail polish. As you can see there is discolouration towards the tip of my nails. I also have deposits of Opi Lincoln Park After Dark on my ring finger, which will not budge.

Ready for the dunk

And these are my nails afterwards- any difference?? Nope nothing at all. In all honestly I think these tablets are a waste of money. It actually looks like I'm using the same pictures as my before, but I can assure you its two seperate lots of pictures.
Would I recommend them? Nope use the £2.99 to buy yourself a Barry M nail polish instead.

Have you used these tablets before? How do you get rid of discoloured nails?

I'm Haulin Baby....

Oh yes, I have a beauty haul for you. I think this month for the first time in ages I've actually gone a bit ott with my make up purchases, however I have two excuses- Holly's wedding (roll on Saturday) and Tenerife in October. So what have I been spending my pennies on this month..

Superdrug Nail Whitening Tables £2.99- my nails are horrible at the moment, from fake tan, and forgetting to wear base coat. I have a review on this to come in the next few weeks, so all what I will say on this is don't waste your money.
Barry M Lipstick in 147- aka the Mac Ever Hip dupe. This is my first ever BM lipstick and in all fairness I'm finding this quite drying on my lips compared to my Mac lippies. Originally bought this for my holidays as I'm not taking my Mac babies with me. This does look fab with a tan though, kinda more of a pigmented Mac Cut a Caper.
OPI Steady as She Rose- from the Pirates of the Carribean Collection. I bought this from ebay (beautyzone2007) and it cost approx £5 (including p+p from America), delivery is super quick too. It look a week to come. This is the colour I'll be wearing on my nails for the wedding on Saturday (Holly has approved it) so expect a NOTD on it soon.
OPI Over the Taupe- Again bought from ebay, I wore this for the hen do pt 2 the other week, and its worth noting you need two coats for this. The polish was quite watery if that makes sense. However I do love it, and I have a NOTD ready to post this week on this.
Sleek Pout Polish in Milkshake- again I've bought this ready for my holidays, really like how its not too pink on your lips. Definately going to buy Minx (?) next month. Haven't really had much time to play around with this, however I am very impressed.

Then we go onto the Mac goodies... I got my make up done for the hen do, and I asked for some products to be used to recreate a smokey eye with a pink lip. So what did I end up getting...

Studio Fix in NC35- now I was after a new foundation ready for the wedding and I was matched to NC even though I thought I was a NW. This colour equates to 2 coats of St Tropez. The MUA applied this with a stippling brush (as I call them) and I thought it looked too caked on. However when I got home I took this off and applied with my usual foundation brush, and I'm very happy with the coverage/colour. However I am a bit shocked with how orange/dark it looks (see swatch below)
Mineralize Eyeshadow in Rare Find- I am in love with this eyeshadow. I never even both looking at the mineralize eyeshadows when I go to the Mac counter, its up there with Typographic as my favourite eyeshadow.
Eye Shadow in Copperplate- I asked the MUA if she could use Typographic on my eyes, and along with Rare Find, she used this. She put Typographic on the brush, tapped into Copperplate and seriously it looks gorgeous!! Fab addition to my eyeshadow pallete. I'm hoping I can recreate this smoky eye next time I'm out.
Paintpot in Painterly- This along with my foundation were the real reasons I went to get my make up done. I could be here all day gushing about it but I have stuff to do. Its just love- if you don't have this in your primer collection, run out and buy it now.

Some cheeky swatches for you...
Barry M 147, Sleek Pout Paint in Milkshake, Mac Paintpot in Painterly, Mac Eyeshadow in Copperplate, Mac Mineralize eyeshadow in Rare Find, Mac Stuid Fix Foundation in NC35.

All what I need now is a couple of ELF make up brushes, Head over Heels or Flush Cream Blush from Topshop, and the other Sleek Pout Polish and thats me done... not including the Models Own 50% off sale lol.

Bobby loves a bargain

Hey Dolls,

I've been meaning to do this post for ages and ages, and after seeing Steph's post on her MUA lippies I said I would do some swatches for her of the ones which I have. Then that turned into the idea of a full blown post on all of my MUA stuff (minus my smurf blue polish).

Now before I go any further, the grey (shade 20-matt) and green (shade 6- pearl) eyeshadow and the pot of grey eyedust (shade 1) are little presents to go in with my besties birthday presents so obviously I wont be doing swatches of them. The pink (shade 16- matt) and light brown (shade 17- matt) I've tried to do swatches but my camera wouldn't pick them up. I normally wear the light brown for work, however you can't really tell that I'm wearing any eyeshadow.

So for lippies- I have shade 4 (light pink), shade 7 (dark pink) and then shade 13 (bright red).
I normally wear a cheap lipstick for work as I don't really want to waste my Mac lipsticks/lipglosses being sat behind a computer all day, so lately I've been wearing shade 4, and if I'm brave shade 7. Now I am normally the kind of girl to wear either pale pinks or nude lipsticks as I always have a smokey eye on a night out. I have been eyeing up quite a few of the Mac red lippys however I don't want to pay £12 for a lipstick which I don't like. Hence this £1 beaut, and to be honest pillar box red lipstick doesn't really suit me- it makes my lips look weird.

Finally bronzer in shade 1, blusher in shade 4 and shade 1.
The bronzer is an exact dupe for my Mac Refined Golden bronzer (why use the good stuff for work), and this is the bronzer I normally take with me on a night out. I'm not too keen on the smell of it though- smells like cheap talcum powder. But for a pound you can't complain, and you do get value for money.

Blush shade 4 reminds me of Mac Style blush, and a little does go a long way. Shade 1 is the colour I've been using in conjunction with my coralista. However like the bronzer it has the ming talcum powder smell.

I am a fan of the range, however I won't be recommending the mascara (shade 5, black).
Immediately after putting this on my right lashes, my eye started stinging and watering really bad. Now as I had my contacts in at the time I thought that it could have been that. I tried it again a few days later without my contacts in and my eye did the same again, and became very itchy and red. Obviously I've had some sort of reaction to it, and I warn others to be careful when using it.

Whats your experiences of the MUA range?? xxx
