According to report, the Philadelphia Flyers have acquired blue-chip forward Brayden Schenn, power forward Wayne Simmonds and a second-round pick for Mike Richards who was the Philadelphia Flyers captain last season. This trade came unexpectedly but helps make the Philadelphia Flyers a younger team going into next season – Brayden Schenn is considered one of the top prospects in hockey.
The trade of Jeff Carter came as less of a shock as many analysts believed the Philadelphia Flyers would trade Jeff Carter to clear cap space. Jeff Carter was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Jakub Voracek, plus first and third round draft picks.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are very pleased and excited to acquire Jeff Carter,” GM Scott Howson said in a statement. “Jeff is a proven No. 1 center in the National Hockey League and we look forward to him having many productive seasons as a Blue Jacket.”
Carter’s 11-year, $58 million contract extension, which he signed in November, kicks in next season. He’s signed through the 2021-22 season at a $5.27 million yearly cap hit.
Voracek, a first-round pick in the 2007 draft, had 14 goals and 32 assists a year ago.
