Pakistan troops' 'execution' of man in street condemned by human rights groups

The killing of an apparently unarmed man by Pakistani troops which was broadcast on TV has been condemned by human rights groups.

In the footage, victim Sarfaraz Shah pleads for mercy to a group of paramilitary Rangers in Karachi, then one shoots him twice.

Zohra Yusuf, head of the independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, said: “Our law enforcement ­agencies have truly become trigger happy. It’s been happening too often.”

Pakistan’s government has promised to investigate.
