Salman’s Ready caught in plagiarism controversy

Salman’s Ready caught in plagiarism controversy

Salman’s 'Ready' has been embroiled in a fresh controversy, as the makers are being accused of stealing lyrics of songwriter Turkish Mohammed Azam, who has alleged that he had written the ‘Character Dheela’ song.

Legal notice sent to the makers of ‘Ready’
Turkish has accused composer Pritam Chakraborty for using the lyrics that he had penned in 2007 without seeking his permission.

The songwriter had filed the case on Friday in Dindoshi court for using his song, since he claims that he had registered the song with the writers association in July 2007.

Talking about the Character Dheela song, Mohameed Turkish Azam stated, “Pritam liked my song very much and wanted to use it in his film. We did keep in touch and he kept promising that he would use it in one of his films.

"But I was shocked to see the song in Ready when the promos came out in April. I did try calling him but there was no response. Since there was no response from Pritam and the producers, I decided to move court."

Case to come for hearing on Monday
‘Ready’ has been garnering a lot of attention for its bankable star Salman and for the chartbuster songs ‘Character Dheela’ and ‘Dhinka Chika’.

The makers and the film are now busy promoting the film, which is slated to be release next month. However, now the film has already run into controversy.

The songwriter has blamed Pritam for stealing his content, but when the composer was asked about it he denied stating that he hasn’t met this lyrist who claims that the lyrics belongs to him.

Meanwhile, Azam’s lawyer stated that they would ask for compensation as the song ‘Character Dheela’ has already got all the attention before the film’s release and the makers have been using it for promoting the film

The hearing for the case is scheduled to take place on Monday.
