MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
Survivors of the Battle of Midway and Navy and Marine Corps veterans of World War II are invited to a wreath laying ceremony at the Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg to commemorate the great American Naval victory.
The ceremony will take place Friday, June 3 at 9 a.m. in front of NSA's saluting guns, one of which was on USS Hornet, a carrier which played a pivotal role in the battle.
The event will not be open to the public, but Midway survivors and family members of survivors, and to all WWII Navy and Marine Corps veterans and their family members, are invited to attend.

The United States Navy inflicted irreparable damage to the Imperial Japanese Navy during the battle, which took place between June 4-6, 1942, just six months after the attack on the United States at Pearl Harbor.
