Some activists of the Republican Party of India (RPI) broke lights and pelted stones at actor Anupam Kher’s house last night. The miscreants seemed to have misapprehended that the actor had passed adverse remarks against the Indian Constitution during a TV show on Hazare's fast for Lokpal Bill. However, when the actor was asked whether he passed such derogatory comments that constitution should be thrown out, Anupam denied and stated that he never made such references about constitution.
"I never said anything derogatory...I am upset and worried after this. I was in a celebratory mood when this happened...I don't think RPI has anything against me...I will not seek protection,” stated Kher.
Incidentally, post the controversy created by some activists, the actor has been getting lots of support from Bollywood and also from the common man.
Talking about the support and love, Anupam stated, "Had I really said what I have been accused of saying by few politicians, I would have accepted my mistake. I am mature enough to do that but why should I apologize for something I have not even said.”
